About
Founded With Heart, Led By Experience, And Grounded In The Healing Wisdom Of Nature.
Brave Little Hooves was created to offer a welcoming space for growth, connection, and healing. Grounded in trauma-informed care and supported by the healing presence of horses, our work honors each person’s unique path toward wholeness.
Our herd plays an active role in the therapeutic process, helping clients of all ages explore self-awareness, practice regulation, and build relational trust—often without needing to say a word.
Our Approach
Our approach is rooted in compassion, neuroscience, and connection. We utilize evidence-based, trauma-informed models to support healing and long-term emotional well-being. Drawing from approaches such as polyvagal theory, attachment theory, and Internal Family Systems (IFS), we help clients gently explore their internal world and build regulation from the inside out.
As a Level 1 trained Natural Lifemanship™ practitioner, our work with horses is based on the science of relationship and the healing power of connection. Rather than focusing on behavior or control, we emphasize co-regulation, choice, and attunement—creating a space where both human and horse can experience safety and trust.
Our goal is to empower each client to build resilience, foster deeper relationships, and reclaim their sense of self—one intentional step at a time.

Frequently Asked Questions
Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) is a therapeutic approach that involves engaging with horses to support emotional healing, self-awareness, and nervous system regulation. Grounded in trauma-informed and evidence-based principles, EAP uses the horse-human relationship for exploring patterns, building trust, and practicing safe, connected interactions. Sessions are unmounted—no riding is involved—and focus on presence, relationship, and co-regulation rather than performance or control.
Horses are highly intuitive, relational animals who respond to our nervous systems and emotional states in the moment. Working with horses offers immediate feedback on patterns of connection, trust, and regulation. Because they are nonverbal and responsive to body language, they help clients build awareness, hold space,, and experience co-regulation in a way that is both grounding and deeply healing.
Not at all. No prior horse experience is necessary. All equine-assisted sessions take place on the ground—there is no riding involved—and everything is guided with your safety and comfort in mind. Whether you’re completely new to horses or have years of experience, we’ll meet you where you are and move at a pace that feels supportive.
We work with children (ages 7 and up), teens, adults, and families. Our services are tailored to meet the developmental and emotional needs of each age group, offering a safe and supportive space for healing, growth, and connection at every stage of life.
We recommend wearing comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing that you don’t mind getting a little dusty. Closed-toe shoes are required for safety, as all sessions take place around animals and on uneven terrain
Brave Little Hooves does not contract with insurance at this time. However, we proudly accept CareCredit and are a contracted provider with the Concern Employee Assistance Program (EAP). If you have out-of-network benefits, we’re happy to provide a superbill upon request that you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.
During your intake session, we’ll take time to get to know you, understand your needs, and explore what brings you to therapy. Together, we’ll create a personalized treatment plan, set meaningful goals, and discuss whether incorporating equine-assisted sessions is the right fit for you at this time. Everything we do is collaborative, at your pace, and grounded in a trauma-informed approach that centers your comfort, choice, and readiness.
